Nothing prolific or crazy to say today. No giveaways or epiphanies. I'm exhausted, so all you get tonight is one Rambling Emmie.
Let's talk about this exercise thing. Saturday I did Zumba. Sunday I swam. Monday was off. Today I did Zumba again. (Note to self: don't eat right before going. I gave myself 40 minutes, but that wasn't enough to make the jostling food in my stomach feel any better. Stupid Emmie.)
I'll be honest, tonight's Zumba class was way more crowded than Saturday's. Even though it was only a 45 minute session (versus the hour long from Saturday), it seemed a lot harder to me. It required much more effort. Some of the stretching they did I couldn't do – like the quad stretch where you grab your foot up to your butt – I can't do that unless someone gives my leg a boost and I can hold on to something. But I did it. I had a lot of back sweat. And shoulder sweat (WTF?) And tomato-face to prove my hard work:
Tonight's class had all body types, all ages, all ethnicities, and even all genders (typically it's pretty female-dominated, but there were a couple guys shaking it, along with Frank, one of the Zumba co-instructors who can move his hips like nobody's business). There were a couple of times that I wondered in my mind if I could make it through the class. I was really hot, and my body was still sore from swimming on Sunday. But alas, I made it, and hopefully without looking like too much of a fool.
Each time I make it through a class, I feel stronger. Well, not really. Right now my legs feel like Jello but also feel a little restless. But mentally, I feel stronger. It's like each time in the gym is taking baby steps on this weight loss and fitness journey that will eventually lead to something great. Will I fall on my face eventually? Absolutley. The trick is to see how fast I can get back up and on the path again.
Ok, bedtime. I have a feeling I'll be sleeping very well tonight 🙂
