Happy Valentine's Day! It's dark and gloomy here in Louisville today, so it's a good thing these photos were taken a few days ago!
Winter always has me feeling pretty “blah” about my clothes. I've been existing on items from my Gwynnie Bee subscription, and not purchasing anything unless it felt extra special. Enter this red faux leather jacket.
Faux Leather Jacket, ELOQUII (also available in Navy and Black)
Black dress, Amazon – under $25! (sized up to a 5X, available up to a 7X in multiple colors)
Flats, Vionic from 6pm.com
Bag, GiGi New York Grace Satchel
I had some concerns about the jacket online – namely that it might be stiff or too fake looking. As soon as I got it I knew it was a gem – the faux leather is soft and really well made. It doesn't feel like plastic, like many faux leather things do. Also, the sizing is right on if you end up wanting to layer it over a sweater. This jacket is an instant mood-booster and kind of makes me feel like a bad ass.
I wanted to mention the dress also. Amazon has a private label line called Daily Ritual, which includes plus size basics. I'm always looking for new basics to introduce for layering, so I tried out this dress since it was only $22. After having purchased some less expensive items from Amazon, I had an inkling that the fabric may be thin and/or cut small, so I ordered a 5X, which is above my measurements. I knew I needed as much length as possible (I'm 5'10), and didn't want the fabric to pull. This was the right call, as the fabric is pretty thin, but it's very comfortable. It's available in multiple colors, and up to a 7X.
The shoes I scored from 6pm.com. I have been scouring the web for wide width flats that have support, and these Vionic's are awesome. They're a little stiff, but already way more comfortable than most of my flats. I expect they should break in soon enough. Already looking to grab a couple other colors. Love looking at 6pm since you can save quite a bit off of retail prices.
Finally, I had to share this photo:
I share it as a reminder that you may see photos like mine or from other bloggers and think that we always look like this. Truth is, you usually only see the highlights. For every 1 photo that looks decent enough to post, there are at least 10 others that look like the one above. ❤
