Happy National Dress Day! There are some of these national holidays that I don't really pay much attention to, but given my affinity to dresses, this is one I can't ignore. I also can't ignore that my closet is in dire need of less winter wear and more colors and styles that signal spring is just around the corner!
Soft Shade Shift Dress c/o Catherines
Hammered Drop Earrings c/o Catherines
Good Soles Signature Sandal c/o Catherines
For National Dress Day, I'm spotlighting two new arrivals from Catherines. They are a perfect example of why I love dresses: they are comfortable, fuss-free, and look polished with minimal effort.
This dress has a fun pleated ruffle sleeve detail and is not only available in this bright pink (aptly named “Jazzy”) but also in black. The stretch crepe means this is a wash and wear wardrobe staple for years to come. The below-the-knee length is conservative enough for the office, but not matronly in any way. It would look amazing with a black blazer on top, or even a colorful cardigan if you want to be bold.
As soon as I put this dress on, I immediately thought that it would be perfect for the Kentucky Oaks! For those not familiar with the Oaks, it's a horse race run the day before the Kentucky Derby for the fillies (female horses). It's a big occasion and pink is the color of the day. This vivid dress packs a punch, but the solid color means you could amp up the style with a fascinator and colorful accessories. Plus, these shoes are so ridiculously comfortable that walking around in them all day would be no problem. Don't be surprised if you see this on me again!
Polka dots and wrap dresses are two styles that will never go away – for good reason! Classics in every sense of the word, they're a great go-to for so many occasions.
Polka Dot Faux Wrap Dress c/o Catherines
This is a stretchy, comfortable material. I was particularly thankful this was a faux wrap versus a true wrap as it was incredibly windy when we shot this. No wardrobe malfunctions!
In all seriousness, this is a fun dress that can be played up with colorful accessories or buttoned down with a blazer and briefcase. I'd love to try this dress with a denim jacket for a casual look.
