Today, it's 95 degrees out and super humid. The heat index is over 100. The perfect dress for this kind of weather? One that is super light, breezy, and (as always), has pockets!
Lane Bryant Outfit Details:
Floral Shirred Swing Dress
Pearlescent Hoop Earrings
Cateye sunglasses
Metallic Textured Double Strap Slide
If this isn't summer-in-an-outfit, I'm not sure what is?! The cherry yellow floral print dress from Lane Bryant is super lightweight and comfortable. The fabric is really stretchy and I'd say it's true to size, or maybe even slightly large. For reference, I'm wearing my usual 26/28 and am 5'10.
To style this dress, I decided to keep it pretty casual with some comfortable, wide-width sandals, fun oversized pearl hoop earrings, and an older rattan handbag and bangle. Also, the most fantastic cateye sunglasses! Shoes and accessories from Lane Bryant are great because they have the right proportions for a plus body. Shoes are wider, eyeglass frames are wider, bracelets are a little longer – it all works.
Off-the-shoulder bra tip:
I'm not a huge fan of strapless bras when I don't really need them, so anytime you see me in an off-the-shoulder look, I am wearing a regular underwire bra with the straps pulled down. It works well for a couple of reasons: I feel more supported in the underbust, and have some extra security with the straps, even on the shoulders. It also is great because the strap around the shoulders acts like a blocker for the shoulders so nothing drops further down than you'd like. In this case, I should have adjusted my straps a little better because I caught part of the dress in the bra, but it's an easy fix! Also, make sure to lengthen the straps before pulling them down on your shoulders. If they are too tight, you may get some indentations and feel too restricted. They should be loose enough to be comfortable, but tight enough to be secure where you put them.
Sidenote: anyone else trying to embrace the natural lip color since we're in masks? I'm slowly remembering that I shouldn't wear a bold lip color if I don't want it to transfer onto my masks 😂
Also, how gorgeous is this location? Thanks to my photographer, Jess Amburgey, for getting me out to some new places in town. I've lived here nearly 3 years and haven't explored enough. For those in Louisville, these were taken at Big Rock, in Cherokee Park.
I hope you all had a good weekend. Here's to a great, socially-distanced week ahead.
