Last week was hectic with work and outside commitments. As I mentioned, I get over-committed. I like to always have things going on, to feel like I'm helping out, etc. This past week though, it got a little out of hand, and I need to cut back.
I mentioned that sleep should be a big priority for me, and I'm happy to report that I got a couple of great nights of sleep behind me this weekend. I averaged 5 hours a night throughout the week, but Friday night I got 10 hours and last night I got 9. I'm feeling like less of a zombie, so I think I should be good to go for tomorrow. Hoping to get 9 again tonight, which means getting in bed super early.
While I completely failed with making sleep a priority, I can say that I did make workouts a priority. Every morning at 5:30am I wanted to cry I was dreading the gym so much, but of course, you don't always have to like it, you just have to do it. Needless to say, I never regretted it when I was finished with a workout.
Yesterday was another session with Trainer Rob. I really pushed myself hard. I ran a few sprints for the first time in probably 3 weeks, and didn't complain (not that I wasn't tempted). We also did some weight training, including one of my least favorites, sumo squats with a 12kg kettlebell. The day after I do these I always dread going to the bathroom. The squatting motion is awful! TMI maybe, but I know I'm not the only one to feel this way! He also had me do a few sets with the ropes. Man, I felt like a weakling, but I gave it my all! If you haven't seen anyone swing the ropes before, this is what it looks like (sorry, profanity in the song)
The ropes ended up giving me super red tomato face, but I felt great afterwards:
My arms, shoulders and back were a little tight today, so I did 60 minutes of low intensity cardio at the gym this morning. Alternated between the treadmill, recumbent bike and ARC trainer.
I'm hopping offline for the rest of the day to try to get a bunch of stuff done around the house. Hope you guys are having a good weekend!
