“Some days you're the pigeon, some days you're the statue.”
Today was a statue kind of day. I woke up super tired but made it to the gym. Said hello to the nice people I've met while I make my way to my favorite treadmill to do a quick warmup before weights. Throw my keys, towel, water and training sheet on the treadmill console and climb on. Go to press “start” but before I get there, my legs slide right out from under me and I'm free-falling right underneath the handle bars and console and onto my butt on the floor in front of the treadmill. Honestly, if I had seen it, I would have laughed at myself, because it was the most random thing. If people fall of the treadmill, they should at least fly off the back while working really hard. Not Emmie. I plop on my butt and slide FORWARD before I even turn the damn machine on. At least it woke me up. Pigeon 1, Statue (me) 0.
(And no worries, it didn't hurt or anything! The belt was loose for some reason, and I just hit it like sliding on a banana peel.)
To try to wipe the pigeon droppings off, I pushed myself hard the rest of the workout. I spent the rest of the day in a blah state, working hard to try to get through some projects at work so I could get home on time today. I'm glad this day is almost over.
Tonight I'm aiming to be in bed by 9:30 (20 minutes to go!) so hopefully tomorrow I will emerge pigeon-poo free. Onward and upward!
How do you dust yourself off and get back in the right frame of mind?
