If you’re in Lexington or the surrounding area, I’d love for you to join me and the Skinny Emmie team at the Nataional Allaince on Mental Illness (NAMI) 5K on October 6 in Masterson Station Park. Check-in begins at noon, and the race starts at 1pm.
I will be walking this 5k nice and easy, so please don’t think you need to be a speed demon to do a 5K. I am personally doing this walk because it is a fundraiser for the local NAMI chapter. As someone who has struggled with severe anxiety and depression the majority of my life, the cause is near and dear to my heart. My husband works every day at a local mental hospital, so we’re both thankful that we have the support we need and want to help others. Let’s raise funds to help this organization reduce the stigma and increase the support of those affected by mental illness.
There is no registration fee for this event. I would like to encourage all participants to raise at least $50 each, but obviously the more raised, the more support we’ll be providing this community.
To sign up, visit this page. Click on the left where it says: Walk With Us. This will take you through the registration process to get on the Skinny Emmie team. You will then have your own fundraising page you can email to friends and family.
