H&M has pushed back their launch of e-commerce in the US for a while now, but it looks like today it finally went live. For fans of the budget-friendly brand who don't live close to a store are excited for this development. I'm excited that they have plus size offerings (sizes 14-24) online as well, even though my experience with H&M+ has been hit or miss.
A couple of years ago, H&M launched a line called “Inclusive” which was sold online in the EU only. Seeing as I wanted to have some of these fashion-forward pieces, I had a lovely friend of mine in the UK order them and ship them to me. They were all pretty much a fail in fit, the styles as a whole were cute and I hung onto them for wearing at a later date.
Then, in early 2012, H&M announced that select stores would carry the H&M+ line. I checked it out in Chicago, where it was a poor back corner of the store with messy merchandise. I got some basics, and a couple dresses that I never really wore out. I think I got caught up in the “OMG, I can actually buy something from H&M” so I bought it without really putting it under the “fabulous” test – “Do I feel fabulous in this?” The answers would have been no.
I just perused the new H&M eCommerce site and thought there were a couple cute plus size pieces available. Not a ton of selection, but for basics, it's good to have H&M as an option.
