Getting dressed is hard when it's super cold outside and there is snow covering everything. Add to that the fact that I work from home (not complaining) so it's really tempting to just roll out of bed and put on yoga clothes before heading to my office down the stairs. I'll wake up, see gray skies and have alerts of school closings, then forgo putting on a real outfit (with a bra and everything!) and doing my hair and makeup. I haven't had this problem much in the 2 years I've worked from home, but winter is just the pits!
Some days, it's temping to work all day in my Rainbow Brite Snuggie (or generic version of that – blanket with sleeves)
That being said, I feel like I'm more productive when I'm wearing a put together outfit, makeup, jewelry, and even shoes (though these days I spend most of my time in my sneakers with a big ol' brace on my ankle trying to get it to heal). Plus, I have pretty Gwynnie Bee items arriving on my doorstep (read all about the Gwynnie Bee subscription clothing service here), so I don't like letting them go to waste! I am trying to consciously make more reasons to leave the house – meetings, coffee dates, dinners. It's helping a little as long as the weather cooperates.
It's been too cold to go outside to get photos, so here are a few from my living room.
TBags Los Angeles Maxi Dress (3x)
I wanted this dress since it launched on Gwynnie Bee a few months ago and it didn't disappoint. I wish I could have photographed this outside so you could really see how vibrant the colors were!
Jaime BB Dakota East Jacket (3x)
I liked this jacket/cardigan thing (technical term) by Jaime (being rebranded to BB Dakota). Usually their stuff runs way small on me, but this one was perfect. It felt modern with the faux-leather sleeves.
IGIGI Neve Wrap Dress (22/24)
This IGIGI wrap dress is a true wrap vs a faux wrap, which I love because I just think it fits better when you can adjust the wrap. I wore this out to run 3 errands and got compliments at 2 of the 3 places. Total win! I am hanging on to this dress for a little longer to hopefully get some better photos in it.
Karen Kane Sequin Tee and Cropped Cardigan (both 3x)
I love Karen Kane's knits. Hard to tell in the photo, but this is a sequin tee with a black cropped cardigan over it. As expected, totally comfortable. Plus, it satisfied my sequin quota for the month. Worn with Old Navy skinny jeans, Lane Bryant flats, and a Sequin (brand) necklace.
I know I'm not the only one in the country crossing their fingers for warmer weather soon. Hopefully the grossness that's out today will clear out later this week so I can get a little more inspired to get out of the house dressed well. Anyone else have the same problem?
PS: Don't forget that Gwynnie Bee has a 30 day free trial! Good inspiration if you're in an outfit rut. Let them know Emmie sent you!
