You know when you wear an outfit that you're unsure about, but you get lots of compliments? This is one of those, and now that I see it photographed, I totally get it.
Petal to the Metal Dress c/o Poppy & Bloom – wearing a 22/24
Alesya Bag in Hot Spot – on mega sale right now (I own it in 3 colors)
Cole Haan demi wedges, old. Similar
I first wore this dress during Full Figured Fashion Week after co-founder Lindsey gave it to me during one of the panels. It was so comfortable and I wanted some color, so it fit the bill. I couldn't really tell if it was really great or not in the tiny full length mirror of the hotel, but it seemed to get a great reaction from people. I was already a mega fan of the other Poppy & Bloom styles (fit and flare, maxi) but didn't know about this faux wrap.
I wore it again at FitBloggin‘ – packed it because it doesn't wrinkle if it's thrown in a ball in the suitcase – and it got more rave reviews. Talk about a self-esteem boost! I think people react well to the color and pattern, as I did. It's a much bolder pattern than I normally wear in a dress, so I think that's what had me a little concerned at first. I learned my lesson though, and it's now a go-to staple in my wardrobe for something easy yet colorful. I like playing up the color with MORE color in the shoes and the handbag.

Between this dress and the SWAK pants from a recent post, I think I need to ramp up my wardrobe with more prints.
