Now that FitBloggin‘ is over and I've been home enough to breathe, I'm glad to bring you the 2nd recap from FFFWeek! It's been a couple of weeks since I wrote my part 1 recap from Full Figured Fashion Week, so check it out if you missed it!
Thursday started off with True Model Management's “Welcome to the Great Debate: The Future of the Plus Industry” Panel, which I was looking forward to. Panelists included Plus Model Magazine's Madeline Jones; Alexandra Boos of PMM and True Model Management; Marie of The Curvy Fashionista; designers Monif C and Jill Alexander; and Chrystal Bougon of Curvy Girl Lingerie. It was a lively discussion of women passionate about growing the plus size market with designs that lead with fashion, not size. Plus Model Magazine has a great recap and some photos.
Later in the day, I headed out to meet my amazing friend Patty to go do one of my favorite things ever – take the adirondack sail! I did this a couple years ago with friends and it just left me totally blissed out. As soon as I knew I was going to NYC, the first thing I did was look up the dates and times available on the Schooner Adirondack. (Totally NOT an ad, just a raving customer.) We headed to Chelsea Piers and set sail for an evening cruise. I love this because it's not a tour, it's just a sail, and it's completely relaxing. Doesn't hurt that they serve complimentary wine and beer.

Photobombed by Lady Liberty!
Friday brought two great blogger events held by Modamix and Eloquii, then the Indie Designer Showcase (the first of 2 shows during the week).
MODAMIX is a new line by design house Brandon Thomas. I hadn't seen their items in person, so I was excited to get to get touchy-feely with them! I got even more excited when I saw they covered sizes 14-28 – more than the usual 14-24. I told them I really liked that and there was a little confusion as they said they might not cut all the styles up to a 28, but I will need to clarify with them. As of now on their site, the styles I've seen go to a 28. They had a great range from their current collection, plus a great fall and Holiday preview. I really look forward to seeing what else they come out with as the materials, construction, and cuts were all great. You can currently buy on their site or on Macys.com (some great deals there right now.) Thanks to MODAMIX for the invite and the great event!
Colors, patterns, and textures! And SEPARATES!
I was super obsessed with the dress third from the right from their Holiday preview.
I finally got to meet Grown and Curvy Woman!
And I got to see Chastity of GarnerStyle – hadn't seen her since LuckyFabb
And I finally got to meet Sandra of La Pecosa Preciosa – we were both in IGIGI
This was a day of busting out of my outfit comfort zones because I wore 2 outfits that I typically wouldn't try. One was this IGIGI jumpsuit. I wanted to try a jumpsuit for whatever reason, and since IGIGI usually fits me well, I sent ahead and just ordered it. The perplexing thing with this one is that there was a back zipper. So, being alone it was hard to get in and out of without some twisting and turning and arm reaching. Once I mastered how to do that on my own, I thought it was super comfortable and I liked that it wasn't similar to anything I'd worn before. The tapered legs were another uncharacteristic choice for me. As I headed out of my room at the hotel, I ended up turning back around and throwing on a SWAK cardigan. I just felt really exposed for whatever reason in the jumpsuit, even though I was totally covered. I added the belt (also from IGIGI) for some waist definition as I'm an oval shape. I wore leopard flats from Lands' End as I was walking quite a bit and taking the subway. In the end, I still wasn't super comfortable in it – just self conscious – so I ended up changing out of it post-event. Though, looking at the photos, I think I made a bigger fuss over it in my head than I should have.
More recaps from FFFWeek to come!
What do you think of jumpsuits? Would you ever try one?
