Oh holidays! They are one big reason to celebrate and be with people you love. Even though I'm going through this glitch in my life right now, you better believe I'm going to go to some holiday functions. Heck, maybe I'll even throw a party!
The problem with holiday parties is that you sometimes see the same people at them. This makes wearing the same dress twice a little bit risky. In looking at IGIGI's Luxe Elegance collection, they had some pretty cocktail dresses, but these separates caught my eye.

My only hesitation with the top was that the lace sleeves and neck meant that a bra would show through unless it was strapless. I don't wear strapless bras, so I wore a normal black bra topped with a smoothing camisole underneath that was black. I loved the top though because you could wear it with basic jeans and leopard flats for a casual look, and then pair it with something like this skirt for a dressier occasion. Layering on jewelry would be easy with the black also.

I worried about the high slit of the skirt, but that's also the reason I loved it so much. It wasn't a wide open slit, it only showed when you moved (or purposefully demonstrating you can “drop it like its hot” with the slit, evidenced above in mid squat). But it still felt super sexy despite being a ponte knit maxi skirt. I could see pairing this with an old tee shirt and a denim jacket with chucks.
So these super versatile pieces when together make a fab holiday look, and apart they make great wardrobe staples for everyday. Win-Win!
Do you ever wear separates for parties or are you a strictly-dress girl?
