Happy New Year!!! 🎉 I can't believe it's taken me 11 days into 2017 to say that.
I rang the year in with friends at a masquerade-themed party hosted by a friend. My friends are all incredible hostesses and I'm lucky to be able to just enjoy the festivities without wondering what platters to use, or managing the guest list!
I wore ELOQUII to ring in the new year last year, and they were the first place I looked for a dress for this year. Sparkle seems to have been the theme for me in 2016, and it will likely continue in 2017. The sequin obsession is real.

I eyed this dress before Thanksgiving, and it sold out. I signed up for email notifications if it came back, and bought it as soon as I got the email. Shortly after (as in, a matter of a couple of days) it was sold out again. But it's back in stock – if you need a sequin dress (because why not?!) this is a wonderful one. My only tip is that it's a true wrap dress, and it's a little difficult to tie the sequin fabric into a bow or knot to close. Getting it in a double knot is best for security.
My masquerade mask
Steve's masquerade mask
I had a pretty snazzy date as well, and he was a great sport with the masks. We ended up purchasing them from Amazon, and spray painting them gold (they were black/silver before). I wanted one on a stick so it wasn't on all night. Steve just took his on and off, and then at one point started wearing it like a headband. Mine was pretty thin metal, so it bent super easily and a couple of the rhinestones popped off before the end of the night. It still looks good after-the-fact, as long as I'm careful not to bend it. Steve's mask was much sturdier and the laser cut metal was intricate and looked great.
This was a different mask that my friend had. It had feather detail that was fun. They blend in with my hair in this photo though.
I have beautiful friends, inside and out!
I'm also not the only one with the love for gold sequins! 😍
I sincerely hope that you're having a good 2017 so far. While 2017 hasn't started off on the most smooth or organized of note personally (no vaguebooking, just disorganized and busy), I keep reminding myself that every day is a new beginning. Let's not wait for another year to pass by to start becoming and doing whomever we dream of!
