Picking out something to wear for engagement photos required a little bit of thought, but I was happy with how it turned out.
My priorities with an engagement photo outfit:
- Minimal prints or colors – While I love a print and fun colors, I wanted the outfit to not outshine the two of us together since that was the focus. I also thought that something with too much print or wild colors could possibly clash with whatever Steve ended up wearing.
- A fall feeling – We knew we wanted to get some photos outside in front of our house, and in our back yard. I love fall colors and knew I wanted something in that color palette.
- Practical – The weather has been unpredictable, so I erred on the side of something that offered some coverage if there was a chill in the air. Thank goodness, because it was in the 50s and quite windy!
- Comfortable – You know those outfits that you sometimes tug at or feel like you have to adjust all the time? I didn't want that because it often means I end up looking uncomfortable or just plain peeved! That's the complete opposite of what I wanted, so I knew I wanted something with some coverage and flow to it.
I ended up with this dress:
ELOQUII V-Neck Maxi Dress in Black Forest – it also comes in Vivid Auburn (brick red), and Evening Blue (between Sapphire and Navy) – on SALE for under $50 using code OMG (11/9/17)
ELOQUII Tiered Metallic Ball Earrings
ELOQUII Blocked Snakeskin Belt
Simply Be block heel pumps – sold out, but similar here
I ended up picking Steve's outfit out as well, though he had final veto power! I used the same criteria for his outfit as I did mine. We paired this Polo Ralph Lauren mock neck pullover layered over this plaid oxford shirt, with his favorite Levi's jeans and Clarks shoes.
I underestimated how high the slit was on this dress (mid thigh), so the wind caught it several times in the photos. Some wind is cute, though it was ultra windy at times so there were a few near-flash moments!
Thank you all again for the well wishes and love sent our way!
Oh, and because I've had a few questions about it – I got this glitter banner from Amazon!
