This month I’m participating in #reverb10. Every day a new prompt is issued and I will write my response. The goal is to reflect on 2010 and manifest what’s next in 2011. Want to learn more? Visit www.reverb10.com.
Housekeeping note: I totally want a take-back on my #reverb10 post called “Moment.” Yes, the Southern Lights 5K was a great moment, but I was reminded today of a WAY BETTER moment! Jet Skiing! Good thing I actually already wrote about it in a previous post. Read all about my jet ski adventure here.
Prompt: Party. What social gathering rocked your socks off in 2010? Describe the people, music, food, drink, clothes, shenanigans.
Today's prompt is from the AMAZEBALLS @shauna, aka Shauna Reid, author of the book I'm currently reading, The Amazing Adventures of Dietgirl.
As amazing as Shauna is, this question had me stumped. 2010 was so hyper-focused on my weight loss that I didn't really do any partying or pull any shenanigans. I wasn't anti-social, but my priorities this year revolved around trying to get to bed somewhat early so I could wake up for workouts- this included weekends! Still though, I've had some good fun, just no balls-to-the-wall parties.
I guess the craziest social gathering from this year was during the cruise hubs and I went on. After wrapping up a rowdy scavenger hunt type game (totally forgot the name, but you played it in teams and had to scramble to bring up people's shoelaces, a tampon, whatever…), the cruise director sent us up to the the cruise ship pool deck where they had a DJ. We were instructed to do the cupid shuffle (see video if you don't know what the cupid shuffle is) when it came on the speakers. It was kind of funny- at least 100 of us ran up there and then just busted in on this party. I “cupid shuffled” on a pool deck somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean wearing a bronze “medal” (we got 3rd in the game prior) with complete strangers while my husband tried to track someone down to order me another dirty martini.
