Monday, I got to do something really exciting. I got to give this to the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute at the University of Kentucky to benefit Parkinson's Disease Research. I presented it in memory of my mom, but it was presented by YOU – the readers who donated, cheered, supported and watched me complete my first half marathon.
The entire training and fundraising experience was overwhelming and humbling. The response I got was amazing, and it helped propel me to do something I never imagined my body could do.
So, for as many times as I say thank you, it will never be enough. This was a true case of others having more faith in me than I did myself, and you proved me wrong.
KNI is going to let me know of some specific things this money could go towards, and I will get to specify where it's spent. This means a lot because while I know it's not a large sum of money in relation to major donors, it will feel great to know what it's being used for.
If you donated and have not yet received a thank you card, please be patient! I hope you don't think that because I haven't gotten them out quickly that it diminishes at all my enormous gratitude. My schedule has just been nutso.
Sidenote: I'm taking requests for things to write about. Have a question? Leave a comment in my “Ask Away” post.
