A few weeks ago, I announced that Old Navy had launched their plus sizes in Canada online. I loved one of the denim dresses that I included in that original post, and decided to make a transition to fall look with it and an Old Navy cardigan:
The dress itself can be worn as it is, but adding a belt really helps give it some more definition as it's a rectangle shape. It's a long sleeved dress with snap closures on the cuff. It's still really warm here, so I rolled up the sleeves. To add more color, I layered a collared shirt underneath. To add a third layer I went with a cardigan, also from Old Navy. I rolled the sleeves up to show the cuffs, which helped this look stay cool. You can belt over or under the cardigan, or leave it unbelted with the layers.
The versatility of the dress is great since it's long sleeved. To transition to cooler weather, you can wear leggings and knee-high boots with a cropped blazer for a really great look.
Old Navy is great for these sorts of budget-friendly basics that can really flex with other pieces in your wardrobe. Both the cardigan and dress will get a lot of use from me in coming months.
If you're in Canada (or the US), Old Navy is having a sale on what they're calling the “new crew.” It feels like a combination of a sweatshirt and a thin sweater, and I plan on trying to layer one with a collared shirt as well. Paired with dark skinny jeans and boots, I think it'd be a cool casual look.
How would you wear this Old Navy dress?
