Sometimes you see a garment and go “I don't know what I'd do with that, but I love it.” This was absolutely one of those items:
Kiyonna Twirling in Tulle Skirt from my Gwynnie Bee subscription
Old Navy Graphic Tee (first seen in this post) – similar
Bag, old from Kate Spade (similar)
Shoes, old Isaac Mizrahi for Target (similar)
Kendra Phillip Rose Gold Tara Cuff c/o Kendra Phillip at LuckyFabb
I pulled this out of one of my Gwynnie Bee shipments and went “OOH!” then put it on and went “HUH.” I had requested it in a size that ended up being too big, so the long ruched waist was a little problematic. With a little tinkering and folding however, I loved it. I paired it with a simple t-shirt so the top wasn't competing with the volume/impact of the skirt.
I'm wearing the Kiyonna Twirling in Tulle Skirt in a 4, but should have gotten a 3.
It is available in merlot and black.

I liked the lower volume of this tulle skirt versus a huge pouf with a fuller tulle skirt as I could wear it out without feeling like it was a special event. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE super full tulle skirts, but I would be self-conscious wearing one if there wasn't an occasion at hand. If you wanted to add a little more volume, you could wear a short crinoline underneath. Cherry Velvet sells crinolines, or you could order one from someone on Etsy.
I'm so glad I got to try this skirt from Gwynnie Bee because now I'm considering purchasing it but never would have bought blind. They are celebrating their 2nd anniversary right now and have so many awesome new items coming in for spring. If you haven't tried them out yet, sign up for a 30 day free trial! Would you wear tulle? If so, what would you pair it with? Looking for more ideas!
