I've been in a bit of a blogging rut. When I say “a bit,” I actually mean A LOT. Let's be honest: I've cut way back on posting in the past couple of years.
3 reasons for this:
- Time/Balance
- Comparison traps
- Perfectionist tendencies
I hope to write about all of these later. In the meantime, I wanted to at least write SOMETHING here!
I was catching up on my friend, Sheryl's, blog and loved this post. The format means I don't need to think too hard about what to say, or have a bunch of outfit photos ready to share. It's just some ramblings from me to whoever wishes to read them. So without further ado (and her permission)…
Currently:
Excited: About decluttering. Sounds ridiculous, but I am excited to be making progress on cleaning out old things, be it from my garage or my closet. Working so that everything has its place and I've used it in the past year. You know that feeling when you open up a closet in your house and go “ugh” and shut it again to forget about the junk that's in there? I'm over it.
Drinking: While an unabashed coffee addict, I admit that lately I've been drinking gobs of hot tea. I've gotten into the habit of making a pot in the morning and then carrying it to the office… which is the long commute of 1 flight of stairs 😉 My friend Lizzie got me the cutest tea set a couple of years ago and I love having it sitting on my desk full of warm goodness. This morning it was English breakfast tea. Yesterday it was a green/citrus tea blend.
Eating: Steak. I got Steve a [amazon_textlink asin='B01HHWSV1S' text='WiFi sous vide machine' template='ProductLink' store='skinemmi-20′ marketplace='US' link_id='1e4c5cfd-e908-11e6-8058-4b201a798d14′] for Christmas because he loves cooking, small appliances, and anything controlled remotely. (“It's the future,” he exclaims!) We made steak a couple weekends in a row, first cooking them sous vide, and then finishing them on his Big Green Egg. Delicious.
Listening: The “Sing” soundtrack and Ed Sheeran. I hadn't seen an animated movie since “Cars“, but saw “Sing” last month and loved it. The songs make me happy, so a few have been on my January Spotify playlist. I've been a fan of Ed Sheeran since I first heard him on BBC Radio One prior to his first album being released in the US. I love his new songs “The Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill.” You can see my current playlist on Spotify.
Limiting: Facebook comments on news articles, or comments on any news sites. I'm not going to use this post as fodder for a political debate, but seeing as I'm an agnostic, bi-racial female of a non-native American who grew up in the Deep South and relies on ACA provisions (no subsidies, but the pre-existing conditions clause), the current state of things is deeply troubling.
Wearing: Several outfits you'll see on here soon! And this green dress that I wore in my Gwynnie Bee Facebook Live video. I love the color and it's really comfortable.
Planning: My schedule and priorities. I've never been good at a paper and pen schedule, but am a visual person and continuously jot notes down. So I bought a Passion Planner and am really working hard at planning… in my planner. Success: TBD.
I'd love to hear what you're up to! Let me know in the comments, on Facebook, or on Instagram!
