Earlier in the week, I tried to give a coherent explanation of why I don't post my food on this blog regularly. One thing that I do feel comfortable with, however, is posting my current grocery list. I hate grocery shopping, so hubs and I get through there pretty quickly. I try to stay on the perimeter of the grocery store, and these are my go-to items. Hopefully the order doesn't seem too crazy- I am writing them as if I were going from one side of the store to the other!
Produce:
- cucumbers
- green onions
- cilantro
- apples
- bananas
- limes
- white or yellow onions
- garlic
- spinach
- red pepper
- clementines (if in season)
- sweet potatoes
- 1 sushi roll (usually tuna and avocado in brown rice, if possible)
Natural food section:
- Bear Naked granola
- almond milk
- Blue Diamond Nut Thins
- natural peanut butter (Justin's is my fave, but will get whatever)
Baked Goods:
- bagel thins – not the crunchy ones, but the ones in the bread section- they're 110 calories and look like a squished bagel
Protein:
- fresh salmon or tuna (whichever looks better)
- chicken: whole (for my rotisserie), breasts, or pre-cut breast tenders
- pork (occasionally- a tenderloin or chops)
- ground chicken (occasionally)
- Laura's Lean ground beef (occasionally, if I want a hamburger)
Dairy:
- Chobani yogurt
- reduced fat plain cream cheese
- reduced fat (2%) shredded cheddar
- reduced fat sour cream
- eggs (I know, not dairy, but next to the dairy section!)
Inside aisle stuff:
- cans of black beans
- brown rice
- extra virgin olive oil (when needed)
- regular spices I keep on hand: garlic powder, sea salt, pepper, onion powder, smoked paprika, minced onions, cayenne pepper
- wheat pancake mix
- sugar free syrup
- oatmeal
- coffee
Frozen foods:
- vegetable steamer packs – not the ones with sauce. Faves are broccoli, a broccoli/cauliflower mix, brussel sprouts, green beans and peppers
- California Pizza Kitchen marghareta thin crust pizzas- I do watch the calories on them, and eat as appropriate
I think that's it. As I've mentioned before, I'm a creature of habit. My list is the same pretty much every week because it feels safe – I feel in control with these items in my house.
