Last week, I talked about three areas of support that I think are critical to any fitness journey:
- Emotional: Your cheerleading family and friends
- Environmental: Comfort of your physical space and surroundings
- Physical: Comfort and support with your body and what you equip yourself with to achieve your goals
In the comments and in tweets, a couple of you mentioned a fourth type of support: inspirational

In this day and age of technology and reality television, inspirational support is easier to find than ever. Whether The Biggest Loser originally motivated you (as it did me), or if you are an avid reader of weight loss blogs or message boards, finding stories of those who have succeeded (with weight or by overcoming some other form of adversity) is definitely fuel for the fire within. I remember the first time I saw someone else over 400 pounds try to lose weight on television, and the amazing sense of empowerment it gave me. The reality that you’re never quite alone in your struggles is a great source of support.
This week, I’m excited to be able to give away some physical support, courtesy of ENELL, Inc.,: maker of my FAVORITE sports bra ever (the ENELL SPORT), and my FitBloggin‘ sponsor.

Inspirational support is indeed an amazing asset, and for many it would be difficult to continue down the path without it. Sometimes, when the scale isn’t being friendly, or your goals seem farther away than you like, seeing someone else succeeding helps give you that extra boost!
I agree with inspirational support but I also think that the support needs to be honest, not just rah rah rah all the time. Agree to disagree so that I can learn from the support not just the hype sometimes.

I absolutely agree with inspirational support. Following those that have gone before me makes me feel that I too can succeed. Inspiration can also come from trying to be an inspiration yourself. I want my children and nephew to know that they can stick to something and succeed. I hope I can be that inspiration for them.

I absolutely agree that inspirational support is a requirement. That’s what I love so much about the online community we have here. Every is working toward the same general goal. We’re all taking our own paths, and arriving our own way, but ultimately its about sharing our stories so we know 1) we’re not alone and 2) letting others know they’re not alone either. Together, we can do this!
I am constantly inspired by those who have gone on their weight loss journey before me. It’s good to feel like you’re not alone. I also want to be an inspiration for other people.

I definitely agree with inspirational support! Your doing the half marathon has inspired me to walk a full marathon!
I do agree with inspirational support, but I also understand that all support will not appear to be inspirational all the time. Sometimes you need the kind of support that will sound un-inspirational, but is needed to give you the kick in the rear to keep you going.

I totally believe that inspirational support is an important key to success. I keep a small book of meaningful qutes and sayings that have come my way during my journey. Whether they were from someone famous or just some imspirational genius that a friend offered during a converstion they go in my little book. Someone someday may be handed my book, perhaps when it is full and it may just help them on their way.
I think support any way you can get it and every way you can get it is going to help you on your journey!
I will take any kind of support i can get, and I will give anyone whatever i can provide to help them on their way as well!

I totally believe in inspritational support. For me, I gather inspiration from reading about others’ experiences. I was inspired by PastaQueen’s weightloss journey, just as I am inspired by yours, Emmie!
I have tried to lose weight many many many times before. So far I ahve lost 70 pounds and I truely feel that one of the main differences this time around is the inspirational support. Between TV and blogs, there is so much inspiration and knowing that everyone struggles has helped me a lot.
I believe that inspirational support is 100% necessary to making progress on any goal. It helps me tremendously to see someone in a similar situation succeed. It reminds me that everyone has a battle their fighting, and that you an even find someone on your same corner 🙂

I believe inspirational support is a must. Without someone to look up to and show us what is possible, it is easy to become lost in the frustrations and disappointments of every day life. I also believe God inspires me daily to put forth my best effort at everything I do. Congrats on all of your success!!

I believe Inspiration support is very important. I’m not sure I would have lost even one pound without it!
Totally believe in inspirational support. Blogs, where they show a person’s daily triumph over struggles, can’t begin to tell you how much it helps.
Absolutely! I think without the insoirational support, I would not continue to plug away at this! I belong to Blog to Lose and have found it so motivational and helpful, it is invaluable to me.
OMG!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Enell!! And Yes, I definitely believe you need inspirational support as much as emotional support, physical support etc… and that’s the exact same reason I watch biggest loser too. It does make me feel like if these people can do it, then I can too! I sure hope I win, I really need another Enell!! I want a pink one!

I think insperational support is a MUST!!! It is the thing that gets me though my long runs and moves my booty up the big hills!!!
I think the inspirational support I get through blogs, tv shows, and reading success stories has been a huge part of my weight loss success so far (-31.8 lbs and counting!). When my struggles and feelings are echoed by other people, it reminds me that I’m not alone in this journey!

I for sure believe in inspirational support. I’ve been creeping weightloss blogs for the past three-and-a-half months and have lost 35lbs! I credit a lot of that weightloss to being inspired by all the amazing people out there who have done it before me or are doing it now!
I am following @enellsportsbras on Twitter. I love Enell and really need a new sports bra before my first half marathon on June 5th!

I definately feel like there can be support found from inspirational sources! To me, support is anything that encourages you to keep going. While those that I find inspirational may not directly give me pats on the back or talk to me in person urging me to get to the gym, reading about their successes indirectly does those things!
Great giveaway, fingers crossed!

If I didn’t have all my amazing cheerleaders I don’t think I would be where I am today, yes it took internal drive and determination, but when those are lacking, my cheerleaders give me the support I need to keep going.

I heard about Enell from your blog and immediately “liked” them on FB. I can’t afford to buy one right now but I’m hoping soon. 🙂
I totally believe in inspirational support. I love to read fitness blogs and weightloss blogs written by people who have lost as much weight as I need to, or are working hard to lose.
Right now I exercise 6 days a week for an hour or more a day. I’m so thankful for friends and my husband who get up at 5am in the morning to go to classes with me. It helps so much to have someone to work out with who shares your goals and cheers you on 🙂

I think inspirational support is the most important kind of support for me. I think that it goes hand in hand with (maybe even a part of?) emotional support.
Would really like a new sport bra!
Inspirational support is critical to anything you undertake. I couldn’t make it through my day without the support of my online friends on My Fitness Pal. They are always there to pick me up and carry me when I need it.
I do believe in inspirational support- I look to you as inspiration- doing what you need to do to change your life. No easy task.

Inspirational support is very important – it gives us ideals to which we can aspire!
Any support could be considered inspirational. Anything that inspires you to move along in your journey, no matter what your journey is, could be inspriational and it is all very important.
