eShakti has been on my radar for a couple of years now, but I've always been hesitant to order from them. For those who aren't familiar, eShakti is a plus size clothing maker who offers custom sizing. You take your measurements according to their guide, and they send you the piece exactly to your specifications. The first custom size is for no additional charge, and each custom piece after that is $7.50. Perhaps I thought this was always too good to be true, especially because the prices are so reasonable. The kicker that got me to order? I realized that returns are accepted on custom orders. That's crazy!
Also, not only can you do custom sizes, but you can do things like add sleeves, change the neckline, change the length… nutso!
Left: Nocturne corset style dress, $69.95
Right: Dotted dobby sundress, $59.95 (sorry no shoes!)
The fit of both was perfect. I don't know why I thought they wouldn't work based n my measurements, but they were absolutely perfect. The corset dress was polyester and had stretch, so I wasn't worried as much about that one fitting. The dobby sundress though was 100% cotton with zero stretch. This usually spells disaster for me in standard sizes, but this was perfect. They are both well made.
I'm not super excited about the floral print, but I do like it. I ordered it because it was out of my comfort zone, so I think it's a good piece to mix in my wardrobe. Think it'd be cute with a black 3/4 sleeve cardigan. I love the dobby sundress, but I need to find a bra solution for it as the back is a x-back, so I can't wear a standard bra with it. That might be a deal killer.
From order time to my door, it was about 3 weeks. Most items take 5 business days to ship, and then 8-12 business days in transit as they come from India. It should be noted that it requires a signature to receive the delivery. Mine came via DHL.
They were having a sale and when you register with them, you get a $20 coupon. The total for both dresses was $67. For custom-sized, cute clothes? Total win.
